STANDARD READY MIX

Standard ready mix concrete is a popular choice for many projects due to its versatility. Because of its ability to be delivered in a plastic state, it can be placed by pumping, conveyor, buggie or chute, minimizing the impact of delivery to a project. It can also be formed into any shape at strengths up to 14,000 psi.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Cast-in-place for building elements

  • Sidewalks

  • Airport runways

  • Flowable Fill

  • Bridges

  • Parking Lots

MASS DOT-APPROVED

Mass DOT has standards and specifications that focus on long-term durability and differ from the standards of other agencies. This concrete mix’s low permeability helps minimize the impact of the freeze-thaw cycles in a saturated condition combined with heavy salt use during New England winters.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Bridges

  • Decks

  • Sidewalks

  • Intersections

FLOWABLE FILL

Flowable fill concrete has a very loose consistency and resembles well-compacted soil. It is much weaker than most concrete mixes, as it is often required to be excavatable. Because of this, it is often less expensive than conventional concrete.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Pre-trench for slurry wall applications

  • Filling abandoned pipes and tanks

  • Used as backfill where soil compaction is impractical

GROUT & SHOTCRETE

Shotcrete (also called gunite or sprayed concrete) is typically projected onto a surface pneumatically via hose to nozzle to achieve high surface strength. Shotcrete usually contains some stone and has low permeability. Grout, which rarely contains stone, is usually pumped and placed via small diameter pump hose.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Masonry block fill

  • Landscaping

  • Repair jobs

  • Pump prime

  • Annular Fill

LIGHTWEIGHT

Lightweight concrete is approximately ¾ the weight of normal concrete in any given volume, due to the coarse aggregate being comprised of expanded shale or similar material. Lightweight concrete is appropriate for projects where weight and/or fire rating is of importance.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Elevated floors in schools and hospitals

  • Ballast applications in bridges

  • Building elements

HEAVYWEIGHT

As the name implies, heavyweight concrete is a heavier weight than normal concrete. It is used in projects that require radiation shielding and ballast applications.

POPULAR APPLICATIONS

  • Radiation shielding

  • Ballast applications
